Press ReleasesElim Park Presents CONCORA’s “Christmas in the Americas”CHESHIRE, Connecticut: Acclaimed choral performers, CONCORA, will bring the old-world harmony of “Christmas in the Americas” to Elim Park’s Nelson Hall on Friday, December 18, 2009, at a 7:00pm concert. The Hartford based singers will perform a variety of classic Christmastime arrangements from the 1700s to the early twentieth century, with samplings from the United States, Canada, Latin America and African –American folk songs. This special event is part of Elim Park’s Premiere Entertainment Series, dedicated to offering select performances in the fine arts to the greater Cheshire community. Conductor and Artistic Director, Richard Coffey, was founder of CONCORA in 1974 with a mission to “perpetuate and perform with excellence choral music of the highest quality for the broadest possible audience.” CONCORA made its New York debut at Trinity Church, Wall Street, in 1998, where legendary composer Ned Rorem dubbed them “finest chorus in America.” CONCORA has since been recipient of the 2003 Governor’s Arts Award. The group’s accompanist, Dan Campolieta, is organist and Associate Music Director at Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford and Director of elite women’s choir, Voce di Coeli (Hall High School, West Hartford.) A two-time recipient of the Charlotte H. Bagnall Scholarship for church musicians, Campolieta is also a singer with Voce Chamber Artists.
