Cheshire Youth Theatre at Nelson Hall

The 2022 Show Was A Huge Success!

Nelson Hall recently wrapped up Cheshire Youth Theatre, a two-week youth theatre mastery program, ending with two incredible performances of Matilda Jr.

This program helped lead youth actors through all aspects of putting together a live production, all the way from the audition process, to learning lines and songs, choreography, costumes and set design, to the excitement of opening night. CYT’s program introduced activities to encourage children to learn more about their personal strengths and how to use them in everyday life.

Co-Director & Music Director Christine Yandow says, “Working with Cheshire Youth Theatre is one of the highlights of my year. From the planning process to the final bows, the moments are filled with excitement. Each year, I love to come and work with the young thespians and witness them grow in confidence in their singing, acting, dancing and watching the lasting friendships form. The Elim Park community is always so warm and welcoming and it’s a treat to see the residents get involved with our production!”

The Elim Park Players, our in-house theatre group, run by staff member Timothy Gadomski, helped volunteer throughout the week. Our young actors enjoyed meeting some of our residents, and it was great to see our community come together to put an entire production together in two short weeks. Resident Rose Marie Rebeschi, who is also a member of our Elim Park Players group added, “The children were so well behaved and such a joy! During lunch one afternoon, one little girl mentioned she lived half a mile away. She said her and her friends call Elim Park “The Castle.” How adorable! The play was wonderful and the children, staff, and volunteers did such a wonderful job!”

We are so proud of all of our amazing performers and team members who helped make this production possible. To learn more about our Youth Theatre programs in the future, visit NelsonHall.org to join our email list and never miss an opportunity with us!
